Dear Judas,
It is a tragedy that I do not have the opportunity to speak with you face-to-face before I walk off this campus for good. I suppose this letter will have to do instead. I wish you all the best as you move forward with your career here at Romulus University. I’m sure your devotion to this campus will shine through as generations of students learn about religion and the Lord from you. It is no easy task to teach classes while also playing a vital role in the faith.
That said, I am still disappointed in you as a person for lacking the character to stand up for what was right on that fateful day. You had the chance to take a stand and correct a mistake, yet you chose self-preservation above all else. In that moment of the vote, you could have done something that clearly demonstrated the ideals and character you preach about every week to the students of this campus. Yet, you decided against it. You must now live with your decisions and the consequences they bring.
I waited a year for some sort of apology, or at least an excuse, for your actions, but it never came. I was never going to push for an explanation or anything when I saw you because there were usually students around, and I wanted to keep my composure. All I wanted was an explanation. It could have been vague because I know that NDAs are a thing, but I would have accepted a firm handshake and a “sorry” coming from your lips.
Instead, you were a ghost for most of the year, entangled in matters that took priority over teaching your classes. That is my bigger concern, as it appears that you place more emphasis on keeping in the good graces of your Fearless Leader than doing right by others. When I met you shortly after I arrived here, I thought I had met a kindred spirit who wanted to make this place’s learning environment fun and vibrant. Instead, you have become something that disgusts me.
Even after all I just said in anger, I still forgive you. I understand that self-preservation tends to override all other bodily functions. So you can rest easy knowing that I will have found a job somewhere else by the time you read this letter. I will be fine wherever I land. I pray for your soul that you will figure yourself out and do the right thing moving forward. This is not a place where fealty is honored, remember that.
