About

My name is Brian Latimer, and I am the founder of this slipshod website you stumbled upon. I am a curmudgeon with a long history of terrible work-related stories that defy logic. I figured I should do something with all that information, so here we are.

Failing upward is dedicated to the people who earn promotions for one reason or another despite lacking the skills necessary to warrant their advancement. They likely possess the typical markers of mediocrity: technically inept, productively unreliable, and a general danger to organizational cohesion. We often wonder why and how the company still employs them. Do they have connections that secure their position? Is their job, in reality, an elaborate babysitting service to keep them in one place where their capacity for destruction is limited? Do they have blackmail on the boss (something about furry photos)?

I dedicate this website to them. They are a primary source of misery at our jobs. They draw our ire the moment we see them in the halls or hear their name (some of us begin frothing at the mouth). Hopefully, this site will provide some solace that you are not the only one who suffers dimwitted leadership, meeting divas, and poorly performing paperweights on the payroll.
